Pattern: Pansy Applique

As promised here's the pattern for the Pansies I used on my Easter-nests last week. I planned to publish this earlier, but I went on a short holiday the past few days and didn't get a chance to blog.
But the flowers are easy to make and done quickly, I promise :-)

Material:

  • Yarn (Fingerring or thinner) in white (or light yellow), medium and dark color
  • 2,5mm hook
  • Bead in yellow or orange

Instructions:

Needed skillsUS-terms: magic circle (click here for a video tutorial), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), treble crochet (tr), slip stitch (slst), chain (ch)

Round 1: start with a magic circle and crochet into it:
*hdc, dc, dc, hdc, slst* twice, and then hdc, dc, tr, tr, tr, dc, hdc, slst, pull circle tight. Leave a long tail for sewing the flower onto your project.

Round 2: change color. Starting in the last hdc: sc, *slst into circle, sc, 2sc, 2sc, sc* twice, slst into circle, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc, slst into first sc. fasten off

Round 3: change color. slst into the last slst of round 2, ch 4, slst into top slst of round 2, ch 4, slst into the left slst of round 2. you will get two chains crossing in front of the flower.

pull the chains over the top and bring it to the back side:

turn. in the picture above you can see the backside. now work into the ch4 on the back. don't work into the loops but into the chain itself.
make: sc, hdc, hdc, dc, tr, tr, dc, slst into the top, where the chain ends, continue with the second chain: dc, tr, tr, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, slst into where the end of the chain is attached to round 2. turn.

leave a long tail and use it to embroider the white petal parts of the flower. Sew on a bead in the middle.

And here's a picture of where I spent the last few days :-)

Happy Easter,
hooky hugs!
